With our latest email update, we told you about a nifty, little addition to our system (one that has unfortunately gone relatively unnoticed), that can add a little more professional flare to your site. I'm talking of course about Favicons.
I am not a journalist or a person long schooled in newspaper production, so take this for what it is worth. But I do feel that the small community online newspaper is going to have to morph into something more personal in order to be compelling to the local readers.
Th is article, recently published in Norfolk.MyCityTalk.com, one of our NewsPortalSites, is an example of what I am talking about. Sure it is a very good video production, technically, and it is well researched and written. But the nature of the article goes into the personal thoughts, beliefs, and feelings of this community leader. That is what allows it to compete on the world stage.
Did you forget to change the time on your site because of daylight savings?
Of course things are changing. Classifieds are already a completely different animal. But let's take a moment to look at this and see if any opportunities exist.
Our new Slide Show was designed to describe news with a picture story form. It has a unique page layout and design to ensure the images deliver maximum visual impact.
To illustrate this feature
I have added it to NewsPortalSite News. I put some photos of my own in
it for the demonstration.
Perhaps you noticed the "Todays Pictures" image link in the right column or the link in the top menu. These are just two of the ways to link readers into this new slide show feature.
For the last several weeks we have been adding features faster than we can get the information out to our publishers. I am pleased to have the time now to start the process of bringing everyone into the know.
With the web being accessed by millions daily for everything from shopping to news reports, many look for ways to “spice up” their site in hopes of receiving more views.
There now is a new tab in the admin area for managing the new Registered Reader console. It is here that you can decide what optionsshould be shown to the readers.
The readers can enter and edit a profile for themselves. This profile is defined by the prompt questions that you select.
